Bosch Sunvisor Automatically Blocks Out Sun

01/06/2020 10:55 AM

Bosch is developing a sun visor that combines camera face tracking with a transparent LCD screen to keep the sun out of the driver's eyes while minimizing the obstruction of view of the road ahead.

It sounds like a great idea. I made the mistake of buying a house west of my workplace and at certain times of the year, the commute in both directions was into the blinding sun.

Hopefully, the "chicken wire" is just a feature of the prototype.

Even with the "chicken wire", it sounds like an excellent idea. Of course it would be better still without it.

I'm a person of small stature, and in those commute conditions, ordinary sun visors don't extend low enough to help me while I'm sitting in a comfortable position, so I'd prefer if these could be made larger, although the illustration doesn't give me much hope.

I'm pretty sure the chicken wire connections are not necessary. (I'm using an LCD screen right now without chicken wire.) Maybe the entire windshield could be an LCD screen to block sunshine from each eye of the driver and maybe the front seat passenger, minimizing the blocked out area.
