AutoCad Architectural Desktop 2007 & Norton

11/01/2007 9:39 PM

My regular Norton anti-virus and Norton 360 (using different systems) both have issues with my autocadd, so much so, i had uninstall in order to run the software. I've tried avast, and kasper antivirus softwares and i'm having the same problem.

Problem: Autocadd won't open/close/revise any files while the auto-protect feature is on, on any anti-virus software.

The solution from Norton is to uninstall and reinstall. Give me a break, if it was that easy i wouldn't have contacted them to begin with.

i'm running XP on all the systems, 2 gig of memory and about 80 gigs of hard drive space on each pc.

Any solutions or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Go buy Windows XP Pro and throw away your copy of XP. Any CAD program has difficulty running on just XP, even AutoCAD. I have XP Pro Service Pack 1.0 and I am running AutoCAD, CATIA v5 and Solidworks 2007. No problems with crashing even on large assemblies in SW and CATIA.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but that's my two cents worth.

Good Luck

hmmm i didn't think it was an xp issue, but more a norton issue with cad. We are using XP pro on all the systems, all updated. all my other software is working, msoffice 2007, formz, sketchup, they are all working when the auto-protect feature is on, its only the autocadd that doesn't act properly. thanks for your input.

Make sure you shut Norton off temporarily while you are using AutoCAD, is my only other solution. You don't need it running while using AutoCAD.
