Water Well Pressure Switch problems

I just installed a new pressure switch on my out side water well pump.

I accidently broke off the zerk that connects the 1/4" hose to the bottom of the pressure switch.

The new 40/60 switch will NOT work. Is it because I need to have the black water hose connected at the bottom of the pressure switch???

The 40/60 switch turns on at 40 psi and turns off at 60 psi. These switches are used with an air bladder tank. Do you have a gauge to measure the water pressure?

Is it because I need to have the black water hose connected at the bottom of the pressure switch???

We can't see the switch from here, but yes, it does need to sense the water pressure.
