Zinc Removal from Wastewater Other Than Ferric Sulfate?

I'm wondering if there is a better way of getting rid of zinc in wastewater other than using ferric sulfate solutions? If there is a way i'm all ears.

Just a guess, but how about a chelating agent such as EDTA?

You just need to take a look at solubility product tables for Zn. Typically hydroxides, sulfides or carbonates are the way to do this. Lime is often used for hydroxide ppt but lime handling is quite an issue. You may want to consider NaOH as an alternative base for this reaction. If you have chealators in your solution, that may interfere with precipitation. There are other technologies such as Ion Exchange that can also be used. You can recover your metal that way.
