I'm in no way an "expert", but I have worked with those machines in the past and they can be very capricious. Is this a first time install or has the machine run before? Did anybody "mess" with it recently?

It sounds like you could have a corrupted program or system file. Have you tried running different programs (if you're able to load a diff. pgm)? Are you getting the same error? (I also expect you to have tried a complete shut down and boot up). If the same result is found when running different programs, then re-installing the system files would probably fix the problem.

Other thing that comes to mind is checking for loose connections between the host computer and the robot. Is the communication link between the 2 ok?

Do you have a similar machine you could try the suspected components on? (i.e. try to replicate the problem on a different machine).

Thanks for the reply Rick I really appreciate it.

they have the machine for more than 15 years the machine was not used for 3 years and they use it off and on and I just started working on it the machine have been touched by so many hands already. Here's another thing that I can say about the problem we had a problem with the cutt and clinch stepper motor driver and we have replaced it then it work but is still doesnt work well when we traced where the stepper driver motor connected to is in the main computer Micro stepper control card and we found out that there were some blown IC's in there and when we replaced it the machine manual mode on jogging works but still not fully when we jog the movable cutclinch it needs a little push in order for the motor to run but we dont actually need the cut clinch it's already disabled the main problem now is when we run a program we have to press escape key after pressing footswitch

does that have to do with the signal power with the cutclinch or it has to do with the programming???

thanks

May

Hi May,

Wow. Please make your sentences a little shorter by using some punctuation and paragraphs. Otherwise, it is very difficult to understand what you mean.

I still have some contacts in the facility using the machines and I will try to contact them on Monday to see if they could be of help regarding the Cut/Clinch problem. It sound like you could have a bad motor.

Are you able to run different programs?

Do you only have one machine of this type?

I will get back to you on Monday (finally, the weekend is here!!).

Until then, have a great weekend.

regards,

Rick,

I'm sorry about that missing punctuations

correction on 15yrs its only about almost 10yrs.

Im able to run a diffrent program,

and, yes every program I have to press escape key ater pressing footswitch in order for the program to go to the next component placement.

we have two of this but we dont have any problem with the other one and Im no so sure for me to do swapping some parts from the good one because if there's something happened we are really going to be down both machine

That was my first observation when I had to help putting a flag on the movable cutclinch flag when HOMING the machine, and plus it seemed so easy to turn the movable cutclinch manually with the machine on. where as the other machine is so tight

And here's my question on that, even if the cutclinch is disabled on the prrogram, is the machine or the motor still needs to react to give signal in order for the machine to go to the next component placements???

have a nice weekend

hope to hear from you monday sir,

Thanks

May C.

Much much better, thank you...

It definitely sounds like a bad motor (or connection to it). The program is very likely waiting for a signal from the cut/clinch motor. I'm guessing that on the other (working) machine, the cut/clinch has not been disabled, right?

The guys tell me that the machine they have is the older version (CS400B & C) and that the version you have (CS400E) has the programmable lead length but that the motor being disabled is the likely culprit.

Verify the connections to the motor and if all is good, change the motor (You should have a spare of these anyway).

Let me know how it turns out.

I'll help to the best of my abilities...

There is a noise filter board by the motors that could be the problem. Inside the door on the left side there is a set relays and between the relays are fusses. Each has two wires if you take a needle nose pliars and jump across you should be able to get the cutters and/or height motor to work if so there is a problem with the relay or fuse if still not working then you have a problem in the wiring, the noise filter board or the motor.

It is the noise filter board or the motor. The similar problem occurs to my Locaters several times. For information, I am handling 4 CS400E in my facility here in Malaysia. The problem which we need to press the esc key every time to move to next step was because connection error at the noise filter board or bad motor. But usually it was the noise filter board. It might either contact problem or the noise filter card faulty itself.

I frequently found some waste leads trapped in the noise filter card and cause terminal shorts. This will cause the machine to halt and need to press esc key to advance to next step.

Thanks.
