Filling of Sugar Scrubs

02/22/2021 5:29 PM

Hi All! This is my first post...so here it goes.

Does anyone have ideas on how to fill a sugar scrub (visc 80K cps) so that the final package has an ice cream swirl look? We are using a 2 head piston filler to fill the jars. The consistency of the scrub is not conducive to creating the "swirl" due to its rheology. Looking for any hints or temp settings you think might be helpful.

What ingredients are you using? What is the temperature of the final fill?

My first question is: What's a sugar scrub?

In my vocabulary, scrub as a noun refers to personal protective equipment for medical personnel.

I presume that cps stands for centi-poises.

That list is of zero usefulness in this context.

In the original post was "(visc 80K cps)". Presumably, "visc" refers to viscosity; the poise is a standard unit of viscosity, and of course the centi-poise is one hundredth of a poise.

I started to say "No", because the photo looked like a food item. But on second thought, it could perfectly well be a cream or fat containing sugar crystals that could be used as an exfoliant.

I'd sure want a good bath/shower after using something like that!

Please, loweryj308, Tell us what it is!

The picture in #1 was a bit of a joke, marshmallow fluff...In #2 is a video of the lady making both a sugar rub and a salt rub....So a combination of sugar and coconut oil makes a good rub to use as an exfoliate for the skin, primarily the face....but you can use any sort of combination to achieve the results you want, coconut oil, cocoa butter, desired type of sugar, vanilla extract, cream of tartar, Aloe Vera, egg whites, crisco and many others....but without knowing the ingredients and temperature can only make general recommendations....

Welcome to the crotchety old engineers club.

Beyond that I can only help you keep the machinery running.

Not familiar with that useage of the word "scrub".
