Thread calculatiion for Gland & Piston.

How do I calculate the thread for Gland & Piston (not the wall thickness for the Tube) for double acting hydraulic cylinder?

I've always used the formulas in the fastener section of the Machinery's Handbook for that application (I assume you mean calculate the stress areas (size) and length of thread engagement).
