Today GlobalSpec launched a new UI that includes a new home page design as well as a new navigation structure. This launch comes on the heels of an exhaustive R&D project that relied heavily on the input from both existing and prospective users. This is truly a user-focused design.
The most notable change with this design is that the keyword search box has been simplified so that you no longer have to pre-select the content area of interest (e.g., Product and Suppliers, Engineering Web, etc.) prior to running the search. This new design allows you to run the search first, and then, if needed, narrow your result-set to a topical area via the use of "tabs." We have found in the many rounds of usability testing that this approach allows the user to more easily identify and access our full portfolio of information.
Now that this new design is up and running, we want to hear from the members of CR4. Let us know what you like, dislike, or would like to see in the future. Please be as specific as possible. Thanks in advance.
