I would say biocompatibility is important, and I would expect custom configurations and sizes, and corrosion resistance would be absolutely necessary.

Do you know of a source where these expectations can be satisfied?

Hi Francie. Welcome to CR4. I've never bought any and I doubt that you will find anyone here that has. Do you need them for dental implants, or do you want scrap titanium? What do you want them for?

Choosing the right medical-grade titanium bar is not just about buying “titanium.” Many suppliers use terms like implant-grade or Grade 23 loosely, but real medical-grade titanium must meet strict standards. The most important thing to check is the material specification. ASTM F67 is used for commercially pure titanium with excellent biocompatibility and corrosion resistance, while ASTM F136 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) is stronger and commonly used for orthopedic implants, bone screws, dental implants, and spinal devices. The application decides which grade is suitable.

You should also verify the manufacturing quality and certifications before purchasing. A reliable manufacturer must provide mill test certificates, chemical composition reports, ISO 13485 certification, and full material traceability. Surface finish, dimensional tolerance, and melting process also matter because medical applications require extremely clean and precise material. Vacuum-melted titanium bars with proper ultrasonic testing and annealed condition are generally preferred for implant manufacturing. One major mistake buyers make is choosing low-cost titanium bars without checking whether they actually comply with ASTM medical standards.

Some of the leading titanium manufacturers and suppliers in India include Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, Titanium Tantalum Products Limited, NeoNickel India, Aashish Steel, and Metracore Alloys. Companies like MIDHANI are widely known for aerospace and defense-grade titanium production, while suppliers such as Metracore Alloys provide titanium bars, rods, and alloy materials for medical, industrial, and engineering applications.
