Stability of Fluidized Beds at <50g Batch Sizes

04/30/2026 2:59 AM

I’m looking into scaling down a granulation process for a high-potency API where material loss needs to be absolute zero. I came across the specs for the VJFBD-Lab which mentions a minimum batch of 20g.

My concern is the air distribution at that low of a bed height. Does anyone have experience with this specific unit's blower control at the low end of its range? I'm worried about "slugging" vs. uniform fluidization when the bowl is only 10% full. Any insights on the pressure drop across their distributor plate would be appreciated.
