Automatic Format Settings For Bookbinding Machinery

12/13/2007 6:39 AM

Does somebody know what kind of electric motors or actuators (what technology : DC motors ? others ? )are used for "automatic format" setting in bookbinding machinery : gathering / collating , folding , gluing station , milling station ,cutting & 3 knife trimmers ...?

who could supply this kind of motors ? references ?

have seen a new binding machine from heidelberg postpress ( called Eurobing or somthing like ) with automatic settings made by a kind of square front size motor ; would be interested to buy this kind of motor ! could somebody give some informations where I can buy this ?

They are probably servo motors. They could be stepping motors but I doubt it. They are likely controled by a PLC in order to store settings.

Servo motors are closed loop. Transducers feed back and assure that the required movements have been reached. Steppers can be used in closed loops but usually aren't. Google servo and/or stepper motors plus the word tutorial and you will find a wealth of info.
