Proof Test

12/17/2007 10:12 AM

Dear friends,

For some project calculation require to our customers.

Value Rp 0,2(N/mm sq.)0.2 proof stress for the following temperatures

T=120DEG.DENT.

T=200DEG.CENT.

T=300DEG.CENT.

T=20DEG.CENT.

Material is half coupling ANSI B16.11 A105 3000lbs.

Can anybody give me a reply?

As per me, for some ASME B16.11 Fittings are not require proof test.

Thank you.

For calculation purposes you can use the allowable stresses given in ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII. This are included in Tables 1 and 2 depending if you use Division 1 or 2 of Section VIII.

Anyway, the allowable stresses for A 105 carbon steel forgings are (all values in ksi):

Temperature 150F 200F 300F 400F 500F 600F 650F 700F

Division 1 20 20 20 20 19.6 18.4 17.8 17.2

Division 2 22.6 22 21.2 20.5 19.6 18.4 17.8 17.2

All this tables contain the allowable stresses for any permitted material for pressure purposes accordin to the Code. Are included in ASME Code Section II Part D.

Hope this will help you
