Refrigerated CO2 Incubator w/Photoperiod

12/18/2007 5:41 PM

Hello All,

I am new in the group. I begin with a question.

I need to develop a refrigerated CO2 incubator with photoperiod (programming lights) from a normal refrigerated incubator. Have any suggestions?.

Please do not respond me that I must Purchase one, we are short of budget and this is the cheaper alternative.

Best regards,

Esteban

I'm afraid that the answer is then going to require what types of materials you have on hand. It's not going to be possible to suggest anything unless we know where you are starting from.

How complex is your lighting period?

Can you use a standard timer sold in hardware stores?

Hi Esteban
What I want is that (build, modify or buy) one with those characteristics.
An incubator of CO2 contains: A water jacket. A thermal resistance within the jacket. A temperature controller. A sensor CO2-there are two types of thermal IR or driver. A controlling entry of CO2, which includes a solenoid and digital card. Pressure gauge ball of CO2. Ball CO2, etc.
Usually these teams are working at 37°C - 32°C, non-refrigerated (+5°C ambient temperature).
There chilled working between 10°C to 25°C, used for growth of ballots or parasites type Leishmaniasis.

I recommend not build, and you will leave more expensive than buying it.
Modify one, if you can, your problem is that if you have experience and know the dangers of CO2!
And buy it is the most optimal have several brands: Form Sci, Fisher, J. T. Baker, Nuaire.

----------

Dear Group,

many thanks for the support. As I told previously, My aim is to purchase and ADAPT with CO2 a refrigerated incubator like (http://www.polekolab.com/index.php5?products&cooled_incubators&ilw_53_1), not build one from scracth. I need support with this issue. The photoperiod when the lights are ON raise the interior temperature in almost 12ºC. I am decided to use optic fiber to transmit cold light from a exterior source.

I am open to hear your tips.

I am at the University Cayetano Herredia, an incubator vertical type refrigerator 15 p3 which is the gateway 8 fluorescent willing 4 above and 4 below.

Ballasts and arancadores are outside and are in the upper portion control, and an acrylic tubes separates the compartment samples, send mail to send a photo before the weekend.

The only thing I can recommend is that you need to carefully gauge CO2 ball of gas, it must be specifically for CO2 system heater, looking at AGA they have a model that you can serve.
And if you want to control CO2 within the chamber, there are two types of monitors drivers an IR is recommended is more accurate, and the driver thermal classic on the Internet find.

------------
