Earth's Magnetic Field

03/21/2006 3:24 PM

Over the span of millions of years, the polarity of the Earth's magnetic field will change many times. The magnetic north pole and the south poles switch. Today, that would mean that a compass would point south instead of north. Scientists fear that during the transition, the Earth may be exposed to harmful radiation that is usually blocked by the magnetic field. For many years now, Scientists believed the Earth's magnetic field flipped randomly. Now physicists from Italy believe that there may not be random at all. This is significant since it may make understanding how the magnetic field change occurs easier.

Earth's Magnetic Field

If U see Gridded Surveyed Maps used by Army The deviation of Magnetic North from True-North/year & its exact Deviation on a date is indicated from which U can calculate exact dev today.

But I wonder if it ever is being deviating to East/West which may result of changing Polar Polarity, ie N ---> S
