Doble vs oil sampling

12/20/2007 10:37 AM

Trying to determine if the benefits of doble testing vs what oil sampling can provide. Was at an electric arc furnace with a 89MVA xfmr. oil sampling was all we did. Now everbody is talking about doble testing. I am having a hard time locating information on doble testing.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you are testing the oil for moisture, dissolved gas and other byproducts of aging and oxidation, dielectric strength and power (dissipation) factor, you are doing essentially the same tests one would do with a Doble test set and oil test cell.

Google "Doble Engineering" and review their products and services. Major benefits of Doble are their client conferences, consulting, and databases of laboratory and field tests and experiences with various apparatus. They've been around for a long time but Doble testing is not unique.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like they provide you with very similar things. Except Dobel provides a database to support their findings. and requires more work to do all the disconnection and connection.

Thanks again
