Hi Guest,

Yield strength and Charpy impact testing for low temperature service.

The API 5L X60 has a yield strength of 60,000 PSI. Without knowing if it is PSL 1 or PSL 2 there is no way to know if it has been Charpy impact tested.

API5L A333 Gr6 /X52.

This description is actually a mix of an API description and an ASTM description.

A333 Grade 6 is an ASTM description for low temperature pipe Charpy impact tested at -45 Centigrade. The required yield for this is only around 35,000PSI

The X52 part of the description is the yield strength of the API description at 52,000 PSI.

What this implies to me is that the pipe described as API5LA333 Gr6/X52 is in fact API 5L, X52 PSL2.

This means it has a yield strength of 52,000 PSI and has been Charpy impact tested for low temperature use.

Hope this helps
