Food Reviews for Snacking Engineers

03/29/2006 10:30 AM

Welcome to a "sneak peek" article from the April edition of the Networking & Communications from GlobalSpec.

It has been said that Twinkies and Coke are the staple diet of programmers and engineers working long hours to get projects ready. Those seeking to expand their snacking horizons, however, can look to the WASAW Web site (writers/artists snacking at work) for more ideas. The site evaluates and reviews dozens of snack foods from chocolate to crackers. Check it out to learn what's new in the vending machine and how it tastes. Paddy O'Poppycock and Sir Snackalot pull no punches in faux scientific, yet quite humorous reviews.

Needs more science

While I like my snack foods as much as the next guy I'd rather see a more abusive.... I mean scientific snack site. The T.W.I.N.K.I.E.S. Project is a great example of that. See twinkies meet their doom in the standard material sciences testing process. If you know what a "shake-n-bake" test is you'll like this site.

I love WASAW and their nasal "snacks" WAV file.

Kenny

Some of the surveys ask which South Park characters would best like the snack. Though all of the kids might like all of the foods, only the most chemical-laden snacks could kill Kenny.
