You mean to tell me that good ol' Bill doesn't support his old products with free downloads so that old PCs can still be used?!!!

Next thing you'll be telling me his new stuff is crap and nor backward compatible...and has had anything useful removed....

I am shocked (not) the bastard should be strung up...

Some altruistic individual should set up a download site for all the old operating systems...or maybe we should all go Linux.

Unfortunately the new program does not tell me file specific what it is it wants so I cannot draw it out of my IE7 from the XP machine either.<here have a nice cat nibble on me>

Dear old Bill seems to want to dictate what and when we can use his software. I once downloaded his new IE explorer only to find multiple problems with this "New and Improved" application. Unfortunately once I updated I could Not find the older version of IE to download seperately. I ended up updating the entire windows, with the older version of XP just to get away from the newer IE. I have since installed Mozilla firefox and have not had any problems with my explorer. I stay away from IE whenever possible. You may wish to try it. I don't know if your application will be able to use it, but it can't hurt trying.

I could not install mozilla from cd as it needs an internet connection. Not sure why it wants it and not tell me what it is after, it has nothing to do with an internet connection but purely for an network via com or usb. It uses one of those rj(4or6pin) to com connectors or straight to usb.

Found one and have downloaded it. It does not exactly conform to my set up but I have hopes it will work. Might have IE5.5 for my system.

Thanks for all who tried to help, I guess once in trouble with bill, there ain't no way out for you.

No real loss, the battery was dead and had to run on ac/dc adapter full time, it took nearly 5 minutes to start up (if at all) and this attempt to have it run my telescope was really the last chance for it to redeem itself.

Does this laptop have a PC card slot, if so you should be able to find a PC card modem or even a PC wireless card.

You can almost always find outdated software on EBay.
