Choosing Between PWM Chip and Microcontroller to Generate PWM Waveform?

01/08/2008 7:27 AM

hi, I wonder if either a PWM chip or microcontroller is easier to generate sinusoidal PWM waveform?

I have written a program that produces PWM waveform in MATLAB, but I don't know if i can connect it to a microcontroller to generate exactly the same waveform as in MATLAB? If so, how can it be done?

thank you.

It depends on the frequencies you require.
I believe there are some good waveform generator chips which may be a more appropriate starting point.
A micro-controller could well be a bit slow? Have you got development kit for a microcontroller?

how to connect a MATLAB program to a microcontroller?

No idea!...
If I wanted 50hz, I'd just use mains frequency via a transformer...
Where are you? What is your mains frequency? What do you want to do with the 50 hz...?
