Single Phase Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR)

01/31/2008 4:06 AM

Dear Experts,

I'm currently building a single phase dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) using MATLAB Simulink but I'm facing some problems.

I've read through a lot of articles on the net but mostly are based on three phase. For a single phase DVR, i plan to use Sinusoidal PWM to control an inverter circuit. The inverter circuit is used to convert DC 100v to an AC value. The problem I'm facing is I do not know exactly how to control the output voltage of an inverter. I'm getting some very wierd output waveforms.

Hope someone can help me and hope the details I've provided are clear enough.

what is dvr?

you use pwm, but you dont know how to control output voltage?

do you know what is spwm?

A DVR is used to compensate voltage in a distribution network when voltage sag occurs. In order to inject the missing voltage, a dc source is needed. The dc source needs to be converted to AC by using a SPWM inverter. The problem i'm facing now is I can't get the desired output voltage.

When I use a 100V DC Source, I can get the inverter output correctly and it is 100V as well. I would like to know how to control the output voltage to a desired value, for example to sine wave 20V.

From what I've read, I understand that the output voltage can be controlled by the modulation index but how do i do that? Please help. Thank you

But for the output of 20v. I think you can change your modulation sin wave amplitude to get the value. how much is your mudulation degreee? how mch is your amplitude of spwm?

Dont set too high cross zone at H switch components.

Hmm.. is there anyway i can show you my matlab file?

The amplitude of my carrier signal is 1 and the amplitude of my control signal is 0.6. Hence, the modulation index is 0.6.

But how to make the output to 20v from 100v dc source?

This is a single phase SPWM.

Please advise. Thank you.

try to increase sin control wave amplitude up to 0.8 or 0.9V! that would be trick. at same time check your circuit. I m afraid there is something wrong with your circuit. especially at output terminal.

put down your file here, I can see it next week, when I back here again. or you write to me.
