Bio-Engineering Research

02/01/2008 11:17 AM

I am working on a research paper on Bioengineering and it's applications in modern medicine. Can anyone give me some ideas on where to find some good research. My main topic is going to be on stem cells. I read about the synthetic generic stem cells created by injecting 4 genes into regular cells, but since the first announcement I haven't heard of any other progress. Does anyone know of this and if so where can I find some data. I am a biomedical engineer major and have experience in healthcare so I am somewhat fluent in the science and medical jargon. Thank you for your help.

What you referring to, are reconstituted skin cells. While it is really amazing to tickle them the right way to behave as more-or-less stem cells, they are way off yet to be a true one. Watch, read, but do not hang your hopes on this one. You always can get the real thing for research.
