Compass Chip

02/14/2008 8:50 AM

I am looking for a Digital Compass Chip like the Hitachi HM55B which is no longer available. It has to operate from a 3.6V supply, communicate via a 3 wire interface, and consume the least possible board space. Any suggestions?

I'm amazed!

I did the same bloody search in a variety of forms with several thousand results, but did not find those particular results.

I guess I should have looked farther than 20 or so pages.

Thanx.

Ron

AKM is the 3rd link, Speake is 5th.

The keywords are: compass chip, compass IC yeilds different results.

I use google.ca

I just duplicated the previous search, and found AKM a few pages in. I guess I had not noticed it previously. Apparently, my searching abilities could stand some tuning.

The Speake device operates from 5V, and the chip we're interfacing to uses 3V, so I'm looking for something like the AK8973.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the link, but the Honeywell sensors (we've already looked at them) require external circuitry which we have no room for. That's why the HM55B was so attractive - a one-chip solution.

Regards,

Ron
