Grounding

02/20/2008 7:13 AM

we are feeding our unit substation with 34.5 kV Cu/LS /AWA/PVC cable from the switchgear placed in the main Substation. My doubt is, during the termination of this cable whether it is required to ground the Shield/Armour at both end(i.e at switchgear end and transformer end)? or is it required to ground only at sending end(i.e switchgear end).Is there any problem ,if we are grounding the armour/shield at both end?

any body pls clarify...

Normally one end of shield is grounded to stop circulating current. But if you use sensitive earth fault devise it should be grounded at both the ends.
