Gen Set specifications

03/02/2008 8:07 PM

How is due to determine the proportions the power of genset to support the start of electrical motors? (or impulsive loads in general) I have investigated respect of the AVR specifications, but still I have problems with the power of the equipment. Somebody has had experiences in this subject? Sorry, but my level of English is in improvement period!!

It separates into two parts : engine side and alternator side. You take into account the starting torque of motor and alternator. You can calculate the starting KVA and design the max. allowable voltage dip first and then check the alternator lock rotor curve to see which model of alternator can fulfill the requirement. Give me your email address, I can send you the genset application manual.
