Transformer Utilization Factor

03/04/2008 6:46 AM

I have read that the transformer utilization factor of bridge rectifer is .8117and also saw the derivation of it. TUF is the ratio of output dc power and the transformer input power? My question is "Is this a characteristic of the bridge rectifier circuit(is TUF a constant wherever bridge rectifier is used ,for eg with a capacitr filter) or works only with a load?

This is a little bit "shot in the dark" since I don't know exactly your circuit, but here goes.

It varies, depending on the actual filtering circuit. I can't imagine ever taking it to 4 significant figures, or even to 3.
