In both the Types The Transformer is just similar except the Conservator. In Conventional Transformers the Oil in the Conservator is in contcat with the natural air at atmospheric pressure. For small Transformers upto 33 KV, 1 MVA, the vacant portion of the Conservater can be filled with Nitrogen and seal it for any leakages. Bigger size Transformers from 132 KV onwards for Hermitically Sealed or Atmoseal Transformers the Oil in the Consevator is cushioned by the Rubber Belly containing the Natural Air and hence the Oil in Consevator will not be in direct contcat witrh the Natural Air containing some Moisture. Hence Quality of Oil can be kept at satisfactory level. The only disadvantage is that it is difficult to acertain the Healthiness of the Belly. Any Leak in the Belly can convert the Atmseal Transformer to a Normal Transformer. It is desirable to use Atmoseal Transformers.
