Closed transition resistor

03/12/2008 12:47 PM

Could you inform me how I can calculate the resistors (in ohms and watt values) of a Wy starter with closed transiton?

Thank you

First, thank you for registering, and welcome to CR4!

You need to give a lot more details. I suspect you are talking about a Wye-connected motor soft starter, but then...

Yes I am talking about a star delta motor starter. I know the way to calculate the contactors but I don´t know the way to calculate the value of the resistors in order to get a "closed transition".

The motor is 40HP, 1800rpm, 60HZ, 3x220VCA.

If this information is not enough, please, don´t hesitate to consult me.

thank you

That motor size is out of my range of experience, so I can't really help, but hopefully your added data will give someone else who does know, enough information to help.
