ASTM TO DIN SPECS CONVERSION.

WE ARE A TRADING CO.BASED IN SAUDI ARABIA, WE SUPPLY PIES,FITTINGS AND VALVES TO CONTRACTORS AND END USERS BOTH.PLEASE NOTE THAT SAUDI ARABIA IS ALL ANSI/ASTM STD.ONE OF CUSTOMER IS CONSTRUCTING A PLANT, THE CONSULTANT SENT INQ.IN ASTM STD.BUT CLIENT'S REQUIREMENT IS THAT ALL MATERIAL SHOULD BE IN STD. I HVE TO CONVERT ASTM SPECS OF PIPES AND FITTINGS IN DINSTD.PROBLEM WHICH I AM FACING IS THE SCHEDULE OF PIPES ANS ASTM,YOU HAVE,SHC.40,80,160 ETC.I COULD NOT GET THIS THIS INFORMATION IN DIN STD. IF ANYBODY CAN HELP, IT WILL BE GREATLY APPRICIATED.

DIN is the German industrial standard. If there is a German trade commission in your country, check with them for advice. If not, perhaps someone at the embassy can assist you.

Dear Rasheed Khan,

In a situation like this is in my opinion the best and less time consuming solution to prepare a new inquiry in which you write down all pressures/temp's from your piping diagram, count all fittings, valves and other equipment plus lenghts of pipe material to be installed and ask 3 or 4 wellknown suppliers (in Holland and/or Germany) for a quotation based on Din schedules.

The reason you can't find a conversion is because it doesn't exist. ASTM is ASTM, DIN is DIN. SAE is SAE, METRIC is METRIC, (depending on whose metric you are talking about) Standards are made to suit the organization setting them. So much for world standards, which do not and will not exist. Its called money and the perception of power.
