This appears to be a manufacturers identification. I Googled the number and the only results (in English) lead me back to CR4...And your post. I cannot even ascertain the manufacturer in English.

The other results are in Greek. If you are fluent in Greek, you may be able to find your answer. This site seems to have the numbers you are looking for along with technical info:

Toma,

Try doing a search on a portion of the cable's code, such as J1VV.

I believe that the characters before the 3X or 4X refer to the IEC cable type, voltage rating, and environmental conditions it is designed to withstand. The 3X50+2G25 tell that the cable core has three circuit conductors of 50mm2 each and two ground conductors of 25mm2 each.

J= IEC Cable, 1 = 600V-1KV, V=PVC insulation, V= PVC external sheath, 3 core, x= without safety conductor, + 2 core , g= with safety conductor, 25= conductor section

r= natural rubber,

07= 450-750V

U= single core

Toma,

Not the International Electrical Code, but the International Electrotechnical Commission. See them at www.iec.org.

Toma,

I apologize. I gave the wrong site reference. It should have been: www.iec.ch. The other is a different group limited to the telecommunications area as you noted.

Thanks for the correction--JMM

Biswanath.das,

I personally do not know. I have not seen these markings in cables in the USA. Perhaps asking this question to the IEC people, or maybe looking and seeing if Wikipedia has anything to say. OK? (My uninformed opinion is that probably 30-50% of the countries are using these standards or at least a good portion of them.)
