03/30/2008 4:46 PM

Hello Experts

Could you give me idea how to repair of semiconductive coating in the HV Stator coil Generator while the coil winding still in place and stator wedge also still in place.

pls also inform me what is max the PD (Partial Discahrge) creteria that still in acceptable, I just test on Mitsubishi Generator 125 MVA / 15500 V / 3000 RPM, by using PD Probe product ADWEL, the highest PD is 40 mA at the slot region and at the end winding region is 150 mA, what is cause the high PD at endwinding region ?

Thank you for your help

A: There are ways to make the repairs you are asking about, but I would definitly bring the generator vendor to site for his reccomendations..

B: As for partial discharge acceptable values, without proper baseline or another generator that is exactly the same to compare to I`m afraid your in the dark..

Partial Discharge is not an exact science (YET), as it is used as an insulation trending tool, which requires a previous test for baseline..

Thank you for your response

We have experience to repair the semiconductive coating on the ALSTOM Generator 87.5 MVA / 11KV, but some of the top bar coils (18 coils) has been pull out to rewind process and all of the stator wedges also removed from core, we are using semiconductive painting VonRoll P8003 to injected in the slot, its easier to perform due to the all wedge has been removed.

Perhaps you or our guest here have a experiences to repair of these coil since the stator wedge and coil bar still in place.

125 MVA Mitsubishi Generator,

Repair of semiconductive coating on ALSTOM 87.5 MVA when stator wedge and 18 top bars of coil has been removal

Partial discharge.

We have difficulties to analysis of PD due to this generator has never been tested thus we do not have the related data before, so our question is what the exactly PD level that still in safe operation, I had learn in IEEE 1434 is not describe in detail the acceptance PD Level.

Pls advise

Thank you
