How to eliminate counterfeit electronic components

04/08/2008 2:21 PM

By sharing market knowledge.

Who is a broker you trust?

Building this list can be a powerful tool.

Maybe you should get to know your purchasing agent.

(Is this person also responsible for buying pencils and TP?)

Your best bet is to ask the manufacturers of your required components for contacts details of their suppliers.

As a purchaser, how much money can I save my company by going through a broker, instead of buying from franchise? I've heard both good and bad stories about dealing with the gray market. You have to know who you're dealing with... and that info just isn't out there. Unless you know somebody in the business, where can you find information about these guys?

I'm afraid I'm not the bloke to ask - the kit I produce is mostly custom-built to each client's requirements. I rarely make more than a dozen units of any particular design. The time taken to source grey market suppliers, and the risk of using items of doubtful provenance would outweigh any cost savings for me. Sorry.

What if I told you I could create a site where buyers like yourself could share market knowledge about brokers around the world?

I have been in the broker business for over 12 years.

I have access to the top 2,100 brokers from over 60 countries.

I am hoping to create a broker rating system for buyers of electronic components.

If many participate, it could make the brokerlandscape much safer.

Let me know your thoughts.
