Bankers Fan

07/18/2006 9:27 AM

I was looking at fans this weekend and saw an interesting style called a bankers fan. It's built so that papers don't fly off your desk while using it. Can anyone explain how this works? There are all globes and apparently they were quite popular before air conditioning, but not they are just "retro".

Dispersion

Sounds like it disperses the air it propels rather than producing a stream that can cause more low pressure over an area. The low pressure resulting from a stream is what lifts papers up off of a surface.

Simple a counter rotating fan, mounted on the same shaft with ribs arranged in several directions, disperses the blown air without a high impact in always the same spot. Neat no...

Yes, it is neat. It may even have something to do with the feeling people get which leads them to say that certain fans like the tower type feel somewhat like air conditioning.
