Today is the 16th anniversary of the first recorded death of a human by a robot (in the US). They talk about other possible deaths in Japan, but no dates). On July 21, 1984 a 34-year-old male worker was pinched to death by a machine he operated when he climbed over the safety rail with an air gun. The cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest, not crushing like I would have expected.
Considering the number of robots dramatically increasing in the world; I'm surprised we don't hear about more fatalities. Have people learn to respect them more, or are the just so commonplace they don't make the news?
