I've been observing through several threads that it seems expertising in many companies is decreasing due to retirement of "old" engineers which are replaced by younger (and cheaper) ones but with less experience.
Here in Europe we actually are inmmersed in the changes arisen by the "European Space of Higher Education" which intends to make a more homogeneous universitary education across the European Community.
According to that, the engineering (or physics...) degree will consist in just 4 years. Actually are 5 and the previous was 6 years, with more hours per year than now. That means the learning time was reduced in more than 1/6. Now we face a new reduction.
At the same time, in my own country (Spain) the recently Parliament approved Education Law, allows that students in the elementary school pass the course with up to 4 different matters pending!!!
I've recently heard, on a TV debate, a Congresist of Parliament saying that effort is "elitist". How this people think an university professional could be formed without some effort?
I like to know which is the opinion of my CR4 colleagues and which is the actual situation and trends in your respective countries.
Where the education goes?
