Have you tried pulling one apart and looking at it?

Vijay,

Why not call a manufacturer and ask them for all of their engineering drawings? Why stop there? Ask them for a copy of the machine code for the NC lathes and mills they use to build them. Or better yet, how about they just let you run the place for a day or two?

You're only making a model for college work, not for commercial use, right? I'm sure you don't have the sophisticated machinery to machine, grind, and balance a wheel to operate at the speeds some pelton wheels attain. At least you will need a lathe, milling machine with divider head, and a fabrication shop to make the enclosure.

I would find some really good spoons with strong round shanks and mount them on a hub. You still must balance the wheel. Making the housing will be tough enough to keep you busy for a while. I hope you have help. Make the housing strong enough to withstand the wheel coming apart.

I'm sure that Dan New at Canyon Industries, or the folks at any of the other big pelton manufacturers would help a student.
