Sanitary Pump Station Guidelines

I am designing a sanitary pump station and have read conflicting guidelines for sizing of the station. The current location averages 120 GPM daily flow and has recorded max flows of 450 GPM a couple of times over the past 5 years. The more I research the text books the more conflicting information I uncover. Does anyone have a reasonably defensible resource that I can compare with the local reccomendations?

Sanitary Pump Station Guidelines reply

The company I work for does pump system design. Depending on the type of pump you choose you will have a basic pump curve. You will start with this and deduct your friction losses due to fittings, pipe size, etc. If you have intermittant high flow rates you will need to utilize a surge vessel to temporarily absorb the extra volume of liquid which will then be processed over time. There are many other considerations. I could offer other suggestions to help just send an e-mail.
