Hello. I am not in INDIA, but I looked at the INDOU website and was impressed with the scope and ambition of its work. I am two classes away from completing my own MBA, so I have some idea of what you could be facing.
They have created ascheme for convergence with traditional educational institutions heres a link:
This seems to provide for face to face contact as well as radio and telephone and online support for class and administrative matters.
I was not able to fnd anything about independent accreditation on the INDOU site, But I am looking from a distinctly North American lense. The coordination with Unesco and its role as a national resource give it credibility to me:
"It also acts as a national resource centre; and more importantly, functions as an apex body to promote and maintain standards of distance education. The University has its presence in 35 countries. The Commonwealth of Learning has recognised it as one of its centres of excellence. It also has the unique privilege of hosting the Secretariats of SAARC Consortium of Open Distance Learning (SACODiL) approved by Heads of Govts. of SAARC Nations and Global Mega Universities Network (GMUNET) initially promoted by UNESCO."
It appears that there is quite a bit of innovation in tertiary education in India, and this IGNOU distance learning program looks like quite an ambitious effort.
Distance learning, like traditional learning, will only be as good as the efforts that you undertake in its pursuit.
Good luck with your studies!

I am a graduate
Biologist from Mumbai University, India and my feeling is…
Since you are
interested in distance education, it may well be that you would want to pick
the best university for your MBA.
Now, in India,
generally open universities are not (considered) as good as private or other govt.
universities. They tend to rate lesser when it comes to job opportunities etc. due to various reasons that i do not want to get into.
I would suggest that
though IGNOU is a fairly well established university, you may want to look at
other universities like the Mumbai University or private universities with
centers in your area etc. They all offer excellent distance education
programmes.
Some established
state University would be my suggestion to you.
Good Luck n Cheers!
