Dies cut eternal threads by turning squarely on the shaft to be cut slowly while keeping it cooled with oil then backing up every so many inches of threads cut to remove the loose the shavings, is the way I do it.
Depending upon the size of the material to be threaded you will need more or less oil to cool if the materail threaded in metal. Cutting the thread too fast will weaken the temp of the threads. Unless the material is plastic then cut away.
