The tsunami washed up tons of titanium

The devastating tsunami last December washed up some 40 million tons of titanium, along a 500-km stretch of Tamil Nadu, India. The Indian government is taking steps to harvest and process the titanium. At least one good thing came of the tragedy.

Yes, hopefully some of this money can be used to pay for cleanup and rebuilding costs.

India has always had a ton of the minerals to make Titanium; they just don't have the ability to process it cost effectively.
