searching for an expandable foam substitute

06/25/2008 5:16 PM

I'm in search of a material that compares with slow expandable foam and silicone plastics. The material is to be used as an inner ear compound that buffs the speaker within. Would there be a material that has a liquid-solid structure that can perform this operation.

How about the material they use to make custom hearing aides. They pour a mix into the ear canal and retrieve a flexible but solid copy of the canal and a mold is made for the hard plastic hearing aide body from that.

Ask a Ear doc about the materail they use for that.

NO silicone,

Well that leaves out most of the systems that will work for that.

NuSil makes a number of silicone materials that is suitable for this. Try one of the gel materials. If you can not use a silicone, you are almost left with urethane systems.

have you looked into the polyurethane foams? Or are you looking for another type of product?

You say "compares with slow expandable foam and silicone plastics" is there a reason not to use them?

I have not explained myself clearly, I have posted without any such specific to gather a broader scope what i was looking for obviously requires research in depth.

If possibe a material that can have a stable core value for solidifying implant, when met with energy rolling between finger and thumb plasticity forms to valuesthat are above liquid so a comfortable insetion is reached.

All inputs create an argument so all contributions are valued, hopfully we can be pulled and swayed with breakthrough materials where this forum can evolve.
