AB Mirologix 1100

06/26/2008 6:53 PM

AB states a 35watt power consumption at 12 / 24 VDC on thier Micrologix 1100 PLC. This seems high, I have minimal I/O requirements, does anyone have one operating and know the actual load.

Have several 1100's in the field, but can't measure the current now. I've got a 1500 (1764-28BXB + LSP processor) on the bench; I'll try to find time to measure the current tomorrow (cf the AB datasheet), & let you know.

(BTW - which version are you using? AB spec gives different values depending on the variety (AWA, BBB, DWD or BWA)).

Just checked my 1500 BXB. Drops 2V across a 10Ω resistor (PLC in RUN state, no I/O connected). That's 200mA, giving 24 x 0.2 = 4.8W.

AB state 30W (in document 1764-td001a-en-p.pdf, which is the Technical Data manual).

Hope this helps.
