Area Monitoring

06/29/2008 11:26 AM

Dear Frnds,

For Area monitoring (Point Type ) in a Confined space (Field Auxillary Room--FAR) , how should we estimate the number of sensors required for measuring ( C0/H2S/Smoke/Hydroarbon/combustiable),

Its basically For HSE(Health/safety/enviroment)

Is it dependent on the area of FAR or should I just make some assumption and select?

Regards

Jose

josej,

Firstly, with respect to the sensors you require, DON'T forget about the O2 sensor. It might be the most important one.

In general, AFAIK there is no "Rule of thumb" regarding the # of sensors that may be required...

It is very much dependent upon the geometry of the confined space, the nature of its use, and the nature and source of airborne contaminants that may potentially accumulate in it.

It is not only the length & width of the space that must be considered, but the depth as well. Depending upon the shape of the confined space, stratification of airborne contaminants and/or gasses may likely occur. Your fixed monitoring points must take potential stratification into account, unless the atmosphere in the confined space is mechanically mixed (via air movers/blowers).

If you provide more specific info regarding the confined space, I (we) may be able to provide a more specific answer to your inquiry...

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your Input, as disscussed We will Consider 02 Sensor also.

FYI

Dimensions of FAR 17000*4500*28000(L*B*H)

Dimensions are in mm
