I believe that using a cap would actually increase your loss. You first would need to charge up the cap before starting the motor. Why do you need to reduce the starting amps anyway? Does it draw too much current at start and you are using a small battery?

YES IAM USING VERY SMALL BATT NO MEANS OF CHARGING. VOLTAGE MONITOR TAKES A DIVE UPON STARTING OF COURSE LEVELS OUT . IT EVEN SPIKES ENGINE MANAGMENT WHEN BATT GETS ALITTLE LOW. THANKS

A negative temperature coeffient resistor (NTC) will reduce the starting current.

If selected correctly it has a high resistance at motor start, heating up by current flow, this reduces the NTC resistance, which increases the current.

If further information is wanted, state current when running, motor DC resistance und starting voltage (from external source)
