It's a claim.

There are no patents pending under his name and I don't know any Mustang with 400 hp able to turn a zero to sixty time of 3 seconds. First, 400 hp isn't enough and second, there simply isn't enough traction available to do that. It's all just a claim.

If he filed for a patent, there is no problem in divulging the details. In fact, he has already done so by filing. So, why won't he show under the hood?

If memory serves (I deleted the email), a friend ran a check on him last week and nothing came up as filed or currently owned in the US.

In the US you have one year after a public disclosure to file for a patent. In Europe you can not file for a patent if the invention is disclosed to the public. I am not sure exactly what "disclose" means in a legal definition.

My guess is that if he opened the hood he would have to say "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!

Run an energy balance on accelerating and moving a 3500 pound car.

When I ran through the exercise for an IC Engines college course 35 years ago, I came up with 30 miles per gallon at 60 mile per hour. Automotive technology has made some improvements, but numbers have not improved that greatly. You will never get a 4500 pound SUV with 500 pounds of power this and that to get anywhere near 30 miles per gallon, unless you can double the energy within a gallon of fuel.

TANSTAAFL! (at least as long as laws of nature and physics apply!)

Re: Any thoughts?

don't need to run energy balance...

1500 lb drag rail + stock engine = high 15's in 1/4 mile

1500 lb drag rail + modified stock = mid 12's in 1/4 mile

1500 lb drag rail + 800+hp special build = mid 10's in 1/4 mile

1500 lb drag rail + 1500+hp special build = low 9's in 1/4 mile

therefore, 400hp with 500ft/lb + 3000+lb car = BS on 0-60 in 3 sec, period, let alone 110 mpg.

absolutely no way

Re: Any thoughts?

I don't believe that claim.

However, this past 4th of July weekend, I drove 75 miles from Chicago to East Troy, Wisconsin in my 1999 Honda Civic loaded down with about 500 pounds of camping gear, plus two people - one 232 pound man, and one 140 pound woman.

I managed to obtain 41.2 miles per gallon on the trip up there.

Then I got 50.7 miles per gallon on the return trip! I attributed it to the fact that Wisconsin is "above" Chicago on the map, so I was going downhill, right?

Just kidding. No, actually the traffic on the highway was slowed down to about forty miles per hour, because of the heavy volume.

So, they just need to lower all of the speed limits to one-half of what they are now and everyone would get about twice the gas mileage!

This garbage has been going on for decades; It won't work because a little thing called THERMODYNAMICS gets in the way. Just do a search for "Fish Carburetor", "Kendig Carburetor"; "200 Mile Per Gallon Carburetor", etc.

Most people (like this guy) won't let anyone see their "magic"; almost always one excuse after another.

The people who were trying to sell the Kendig Carburetor back in the 70's had one tested by a governmental agency in an open test; mileage and pollution WORSE.

More snake oil being sold...

I would like to follow up on this discussion with some breaking news about the "Water 4 Gas" device being plugged across the Internet. It is supposed to generate hydrogen and improve fuel mileage.

A local TV station worked with a local college and installed this kit on a 1990 Buick. After several weeks of testing, the final results were 2 mpg less, and the device used a lot of electricity "doing its thing". The people doing the install think a more refined device might work.

I have serious doubts that could ever happen. Anyway, here's the link:

I'm with you, short of an act of God a properly running computer-controlled engine should have a net loss of fuel economy. Although I am surprised that it would be as large as 2 miles per gallon, I'm sure many more of these scams in the works. I've just seen an ad on television pushing a sparkplug that will increase your fuel economy. It is a shame, but I'm willing to bet scammers, predate prostitution as the oldest profession.

"...I'm willing to bet scammers, predate prostitution as the oldest profession..."

I think that bet is winnable - according to Scripture, the serpent tempted Eve with the apple tree apparently long before Adam had sex with her. If that wasn't a scam, I don't know what would be! Maybe that's why we refer to them as "snake oil salesmen"?

Well I checked, there's another origin listed for the term snake oil, but maybe we should contact Winnipeg yours might be better. Ran across an interesting link while I was checking http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2007/11/10-awesome-gadg.html

I've got to go need to set up my eBay account to market my fan that plugs into the cigarette lighter of your vehicle and increases your fuel economy by wind propulsion, I'll bet you I could sell some. I mean if Edison can do it it certainly is a viable technology.

Re: Any thoughts?

07/08/2008 2:51 AM

I hadn't seen it but I just took a look at it. First is his 110 miles to the gallon claim. Assuming a production Mustang with approximately 400 hp would get a highway fuel economy somewhere around 24 miles to the gallon within engine that is at most 22% efficient .

If he could squeeze 100% efficiency out of the engine the 110 mile per gallon fuel economy would be doable, however the theoretical maximum efficiency of the internal combustion engine is somewhere around 50%, and nobody's even close to that.

The new 600 hp Viper claims a slightly lower than 4 second zero to 60 time, and weighs about the same as a Mustang.

Next he boast zero to 60 in three seconds, and a top speed well over 100 mph. I doubt that there's been any real performance test run here as others have said 400 hp isn't enough to get a 3500 pound car a zero to 60 time of three seconds.

My avatar With approximately 425 hp, a frontal area and air drag closer to a Mack truck than a Mustang is capable of topping the 150 mph mark, certainly if you knew much of anything about high-performance cars there is no reason that a 400 hp Mustang that can do zero to 60 in three seconds would not do over 150, I mean you got to have tall gearing to get that kind of mileage, why would not make the claim of over 150 mile an hour capability. I mean if you exaggerate the 0 to 60 times to impress people wouldn't you at least give a reasonable top speed figure. This seems like the numbers of been pulled out of a hat, but hey I've been wrong before.

Speed and distance per gallon is obtainable if using nitro in a very, very heavy tailpipe. Condition of vehicle and driver will be very small pieces, scattered over many acres of ground. Or possibly in orbit. Gasoline, no way.

Reminds me of the story of the guy who strapped a jet engine on a 60s chevy impala (with tthe large trunk deck). All they found was skid marks and a busted guard rail on a mountain road. The car wreckage was found on the next mountain.

It will do even better going down hill...just don't forget to release the handbrake.

Further, instead of checking the US patent office, I went and checked Fortune magazine billionaires list. He is definitely not there...

No free meal sir.

what was all that crap. The guys name wasn't on the patent you listed. the patent had no claims of improving anything, it was patented by an environmental company back during the big smog reduction era.
