Zone Regulated Central Heating

07/08/2008 10:13 AM

Does anyone know a good / easy way to retro-fit a zone heating system?

I work in a medium sized factory with equal sized offices and shop floor.

I need to fit a zone heating system to reduce costs.

Heating only?

Believe it or not true zone air conditioning in a manufacturing environment (heating, cooling, humidity and possibly air pressure control) may not be cheaper in the long run than having small 5 Ton / 60,000BTU independent systems.

Successful zoning will take someone with a lot of experience to analyze the current situation and design a system based on your needs. The design is usually compromised somewhere along the line by cost savings.

If it's heating only try manual supply and return dampers but you have to understand airflow or get very lucky and hope no one screws it up a week later.
