GPS systems

I have a Megalan 800 portable GPS that I use in my car for navigation and it works fine, but I find they also make the newer GPS systems which are more efficient like they would tell you if there is some construction work or cngestion on the road you are taking and tell you an alternative route and also tell you the names of the streets you are crossing at any time. Also give you more inforrmaton about hotels and restaurants on your route. My question is, Is there a program available somewhere on the internet that I can download to my PC and upgrade my GPS to the newer version by uploading this upgrade, Any suggestions?

First have you gone to Magellan's web site to see if the offer a firmware update for your system so it can perform these new functions. Second they would be the first play to look updated software your GPS model.

Traffic avoidance features on GPS's are, as far as I know, always a pay for premium subscription service.

POI (point of interest) databases are normally an integral part of the GPS software, some editable, some updatable, some only available on map update.

You need to research the Magellan website for what applicable for your model.
