For 250 to 300 dollars what would be a good model paintball gun to buy?

Re: Paintball Guns

I am by no means an expert on this subject but..... I spent a considerable amount of time reading and looking at guns for my son for his birthday this year and the conclusion I came to was that there are a couple of main things to look for, 1: Bps and 2: reliability. And maybe not in this order. After many days deliberation, and not wanting to drop too much coin, I purchased him a Kingman Spyder VS3. I made this decision because almost all the reviews and feedback I read from current owners was that the break eyes work. I couldnt say the same for all the other guns, in and out of this price range. He has had the gun since Dec. and has not broke any balls inside the gun. Also, this gun, while not fully automatic, has a rocking trigger, which allows up to 30 BPS to be fired. This trigger also keeps your hand from cramping. The going rate for this gun is around $250, I bought his from e-bay, brand new for $180. I totalled out around $300 with the tank, balls and gear. He plays with it almost every weekend and has not had any problems. Hope this helps.

The Tippmann model 98 is a great entry level paintball gun, with lots of affordable modification/customization parts available. It costs less then your price range and outperforms many guns in your range before modification.

here's a 5 star review:

The Tippman 98 is also known as the AK-47 of paint ball. It is rugged, easy to maintain, and easy to upgrade. But the big thing here is, it shoots almost without fail, the accuracy can be improved with adding a rifled barrel. Shot speed can be improved with addition of an accumulator. Easy, simple, very cost effective. Remember, the paint ball gun is only ~ 1/2 the money you will need to get active with paint ball combat. You will also need: face shelds (50 -80 US $), shin, arm, gloves, chest protector (I use an old flack jacket (Viet nam vintage). Also, one spot that if not covered if you get hit will drop you to the ground, the inside to outside of the upper leg near the hip. If you get wacked there while running it will drop you.

The balls are also costly, when you aquire them get good ones. The cheep ones tend to explode upon exiting the barrel.

Have you ever noticed, there is never anyone walking into a school and opening up on students and teachers with Paintball guns?

Some days, I'd love to walk into work and just shoot the boss with one of those babies
