New Patent

07/16/2008 6:51 AM

On May 20th I recieved a patent for a new thumb for excavators or backhoes with or with out extendable booms.

I am trying to get a manufacturer and distribuator and need sudgestions as to what I should ask for. I was thinking 10% of the wholesale price if a non-exclusive agreement and up to 25% if an exclusive agreement. Should I expect some money up front? and are my percentages fair and reasonable?

Pictures of the thumb can be seen on my website www.greensboro-sand-gravel.com

Hi George according my experience I think 25% could be a good rate. 10 could not be enough.

Did you checked the market potentialities of your idea?

are you looking only at US market or have you seen any potentiality for abroad sales?

I feel this could be of use anywhere in the world but I need to get it going in the US for now. I still have a window of oppertunity for other patents.

Do you have an interest in this type of equipment? If so let me know the market in Italy and possibly we could do something over there.

you are in that range...

you need to go to a trade show like conex with a good short video or two.

then you can differ costs and collect close to 20% on that.

looks pretty cool.

Hello George W,

Can you explain what exactly is a thumb? I had an image if some kind of new joystick to control the movement of the excavators arms so to speak! So being of an inquisitive nature, I checked out your site! I found the picture of the bulldozer and the girl! I don't think either one is a thumb! And all the other items about prices of fill but still no sign of the elusive thumb! Please can you enlighten me!

Thanks TB

Hello George, I went back to your site but found no link! There was a box with a red cross just under the title but no mention of 'Thumbs'! Maybe the site has a bug in it! Is anybody else having problems finding the 'Thumbs' link?
