hi

tech generator is independent of motor wheathere it is ac or dc, as it is mechanical part which connectes on the shaft of the motor.

so for a drive run mode is detected through tech generator for both ac and dc motor

A VFD knows the motor's operating status by monitoring the current.

Dear sir, Encoders are used for feedback of ac drives, we are using the same in ac drive of YASKAWA.

What kind of VFD are you using, some drives use encoder feedback or in cases where one VFD is controlling several motors contactor feedback can be used with an aux contactor.
