Impedance of transformer

What is Perecentage Impedance of transformer,why it is said so,what is its importance in Voltage regulation

Transformers are not my field of expertise, but energy efficiency goes down and waste heat goes up as impedance of transformer goes up. Cooling the transformer is important to reduce temperature and series impedance. In terms of voltage regulation the anser is more complicated so i won't muddy the water for you good luck
